Herman Pillette had a complete game at Navin Field as the Detroit Tigers won
in their last at-bat beating the Philadelphia Athletics by the count of 4 to
3.
The deciding run was scored by Detroit in the 9th. Johnny Bassler drew a
walk. Pillette next to the plate and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Lu Blue
then delivered a base-hit. Blue took second on the throw. Bob Jones was up
next and he slapped a single giving Detroit the victory and sending the
12,271 home-town fans home happy. Detroit had 10 hits for the afternoon.
The win went to Pillette(6-1) who allowed 3 runs in the game. Roy Moore(1-4)
was the losing pitcher in relief. He gave up 2 hits and 1 walk in 2/3 of an
inning.
